Should you invest in QQQ?

QQQ is up over 121% over the past 5 years. Its beat most hedge funds! If you have already made the decision to invest in QQQ, I (Siddharth Lunawat) would do QQQM instead. QQQM is the same, just a lower fee structure. For day traders, however, QQQ is better.

Now to the main conversation. Should you invest in QQQ?

I, Siddharth Lunawat, personally believe you should but it should be as part of a diversified portfolio. Below are QQQ's holdings as of the writing of this article.

Here are reasons to invest: QQQ is tech heavy. Tech will continue to dominate the market in the long run. All the companies above are positioned to take advantage of AI and tech further infiltrating the world. Any new entrants in the market will also be automatically added to QQQ. You simply cannot ignore tech and the returns you get from it.

Why you should be careful: Like every investment cycle, Tech, will have a down cycle. We had one in April 2025 and during COVID. QQQ was down much more than the S&P.

So what should you do? First of all talk to a qualified financial advisor. Then take a chunk of the portfolio you can afford to keep in the long run (10+ years). On such a long horizon you are much more likely to reap benefits of holding a tech heavy ETF like QQQ.
